New Sixth Form facilities on show at Information Evening
September represents a significant milestone in the life of the Sixth Form here at Godolphin. Following a major redevelopment, it now boasts a state-of-the- art, extensively provisioned study centre that places independent and focused academic work at the heart of Sixth Form life.
As David Hallen, Head of Sixth Form, explains, ‘The achievements of our previous Sixth Form students have been remarkable and we wanted to provide the next generation of learners with the technology, environment and expertise that would allow them to aim even higher’.
The newly developed Jerred Study Centre provides a new seminar room, conference room and common room, each equipped with the latest technology, in an environment that encourages students to fully engage with their studies outside of the classroom and mirrors the university experience. David Hallen explains, ‘Our integrated Sixth Form Centre provides all the support necessary for students to achieve their ambitions, from Oxbridge entry to the world of work and apprenticeships.’
The redevelopment will help ensure Godolphin continues to achieve excellent academic results. However, more important than this, it will support the School’s mission to provide its students with a secure and supportive foundation for success in the modern world. This intention is evident in its unique programme, The Elizabeth Godolphin Award, which is offered to every sixth former and develops highly sought-after skills which are valued by employers. As well as this, its impressive and established ‘GO Forward’ network connects current students with alumnae in relevant professions, providing opportunities for valuable work experience and mentoring. David Hallen sums it up, ‘We are rightly proud of the excellent opportunities available here and of the Sixth Form’s philosophy and environment, which promotes a range of leadership skills, instilling in all our students a strong sense of personal responsibility and self-motivation, ready for whatever their future may hold.’
The new facilities will be on show at our Sixth Form Information Evening which is being held at 5.30pm this Friday, 15 September.
