Sport

At Godolphin, every pupil, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive in PE, sport, and physical activity. Our aim is for pupils to leave with the skills, knowledge and confidence to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle long after their time at school.

Godolphin Sport reflects the school’s core values of ambition, authenticity, courage, and kindness, fostering a supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to strive for excellence while staying true to themselves. Through sport, we instil the courage to face challenges, the kindness to support teammates and opponents, and the ambition to achieve personal and collective goals.

Our fantastic, talented team of teaching staff and sports coaches also understands the importance of enjoyment, using sport as a means to enhance mental wellbeing alongside physical health. Whether competing at the highest level or simply participating for fun, every pupil is encouraged to grow in confidence, resilience, and self-belief.

We offer a broad range of sport and activities as part of the curriculum and an extensive programme of after-school clubs. From lacrosse and netball to badminton, table tennis, gymnastics, and yoga, there is something to provide pupils with the chance to test their skills, and our focus sports include lacrosse, netball, football, hockey, cross-country, swimming, athletics, tennis, and cricket.

Sport in a Co-Educational Environment
As Godolphin moves to co-education, we are excited to introduce mixed sports, creating an inclusive environment where boys and girls can learn and compete together. This approach fosters teamwork, adaptability, and mutual respect, ensuring pupils develop the courage to try new things and the kindness to support one another.

Our Mixed Sport Programme includes:

Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Cross-Country, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Netball, Rugby, Swimming and Tennis.

This comprehensive offering ensures that every pupil can find their passion, whether participating in house competitions, representing the school in regional and national events, or simply enjoying physical activity.

While we are embracing co-education and mixed sports, individual girls' team will continue to thrive. Our Godolphin 1st Lacrosse Team is a testament to our sporting excellence, currently ranked second in the country!

We continue to host regular competitive fixtures in lacrosse, hockey, netball, and swimming for girls during the Autumn and Spring Terms, and tennis, cricket, and athletics for all pupils in the Summer Term. Additionally, our Rugby 7s programme which will launch in September offers exciting opportunities for those interested in this fast-paced sport.

For our most talented athletes, the Sports Scholarship Programme provides tailored support to help them achieve their potential. Scholars benefit from expert guidance in sports nutrition, psychology and training methods to excel at the highest levels.

A Legacy of Sporting Excellence
Godolphin has a proud tradition of sporting success, with pupils excelling as individuals and as teams. Many have represented their country in sports such as lacrosse, hockey, equestrianism, athletics, and swimming every pupil, whether a beginner or an elite athlete, is encouraged to reach their full potential with ambition, courage, and authenticity.

Through our focus on kindness and respect, we also ensure that sport at Godolphin is about more than just winning—it’s about building character, fostering friendships, and creating a lifelong love of physical activity.
