A vibrant and buzzy department, with enthusiastic and experienced practitioners, we teach all pupils from First to Fifth year, as well as A-Level English Literature. With a curriculum that encourages pupils to open their minds to a range of topics and texts we ensure the subject remains engaging and relevant.

The study of English helps pupils to cultivate some of the most important life skills – discussion, debate, reading, acting, describing, telling stories – skills that are just as important now as they were in Shakespeare’s time.

The Department is responsible for various events and activities throughout the year including theatre trips, Poetry Day and World Book Day celebrations, creative writing and the school magazine, The Milford Mag.
